First of all, we talk. We have a casual conversation about the possibilities of you having me handcraft a very special painting for you and/or your family.
Often several conversations take place, before moving forward
Matters discussed:
I will be working from a photograph back in my studio
Will I be doing the photography or will you be providing a photograph
Number of people in the painting
Possible sizes of the finished painting
Style of the painting
Classical background
Outdoor setting
Environmental setting, maybe your study or great room
Architectural setting, my favorite
Clothing for people in the painting
Framing possibilities
Museum type lighting or other lighting
Time frame to complete the process
We discuss my commissions
If we agree in principle, I prepare a simple written agreement
Then I'm commissioned (paid) according to our agreement.
Either I plan the painting based on the photograph you provide, or
We fly or drive to your home or other location to do the photography
We review the possible sets and the clothing selected and make adjustments as needed. Then the photography session(s) begin.
We review the images together and make the final selection for your painting.
Then my wife and I return to our home, where I begin your Masterpiece.
